UNION Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
Loved the ambience, with printing press decor touches, at this restaurant. Food tasted fairly good. Service was prompt and courteous. We went for both dinner and breakfast. Staying at the Press hotel, this was a convenient eatery.
We tried this restaurant before a show a Merrill Auditorium. First, it has a great atmosphere and location. Very trendy and upscale. We sat at the bar because we didn't have reservations. We ordered several cocktails which all tasted great. However, the two bar tenders were working the whole restaurant and seemed very overwhelmed. It took a long time to get their attention on several occasions. We ordered raw oysters which tasted fine but many of them had little bits of shell inside, poor shucking. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with duck egg, which tasted great! However, we waited well over an hour for our meals and were 20 minutes late to our show, despite being assured by the waitstaff that our meals would be out in plenty of time. Overall, I was pretty disappointed considering how expensive it was... Hopefully this was just an off night... We will be back to give it another try. The prix fixe menu looks great and I want to try it when we're not under time constraints.
This is hands down one of the most amazing restaurants we have ever been to! From the phenomenal food, to the best customer service from EVERY single person you encounter there. I assure you, you will not leave disappointed. We booked a five course chef tasting after having gone to this restaurant our first night there and falling in love with our first meals of the trip, and again left feeling so satisfied and overall thrilled with our experience. Every person that works there is so incredibly friendly, the bartender Josh & the chef’s in charge of cooking our meals were both extremely kind and very knowledgeable and informative about everything we were eating . They all work as an amazing team to communicate and give you the best possible experience you can have. Chef Nikkol & staff will without a doubt leave a lasting impression on you making it impossible to not visit often. HIGHLY recommend if you’re in the area.
Atmosphere was very chic. I love anywhere that’s got plants all over. Service was rather slow.. we waited 45 minutes for our food, but the wait was worth it! Aside from the very eye catching presentation, the food was delicious! The mushroom toast was incredible and was my favorite. Will have to come back and try their dinner menu.
So looking for a restaurant opened on Christmas night was not easy but we found this Union. We even got there as the restaurant was closing, and they took us in. Extra stars for that. The hostess was nice and welcoming. We ordered potato croquettes flavorless, Trout flavorless, half Chicken flavorless and 2 Apple pie sangria decent. $130 later definitely not returning
Our Valentine's dinner at Union was delicious! If I could give 4.5 stars I would. Service was excellent: prompt and available when needed without being overbearing or disruptive. The atmosphere is very nice, a mix of brutalist lines and natural materials, and managed to keep volume levels low. The food was excellent - good portion sizes that left us pleasantly full without being overstuffed and didn't feel overpriced for what we got. We chose the Prix Fixe Valentine's menu and both loved our entrées. My husband's scallops were perfectly cooked, and the delicata squash that came with my cod was some of the best I've had. Drinks were good, with a diverse menu that had something for everyone. We both enjoyed our cocktails and they complimented the meal nicely.
UNION was top on my list of date night restaurants and I’m glad I can finally check it off. The restaurant itself is connected to the press hotel and offers a big space to wine and dine. The atmosphere is very relaxing and definitely up to par for a top tier Old Port restaurant. My girlfriend and I got the mussels as an intro and they were quite possibly the biggest mussels either of us have ever eaten. We proceeded to both order the conchiglie for our body. The conchiglie is an elevated take on mac n cheese which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The service was great all around. I would highly recommend UNION for a good date night.
This place absolutely blew me away. For starters we tried the mussels with french fries and aioli dip, pumpkin bisque, and the maple oatmeal bread with maple brown butter. Every single bite was perfection. For our entrees, the mushroom tagliatelle, and veal ragù were rich, flavorful, and beautifully plated. We topped it all off with some Walnut Block wine, pure heaven! It was my first time in Maine, and fell in love. The food, the flavors, the ambience, everything was incredible. Watching the chefs work in the open kitchen felt like being part of a live Netflix cooking show. I’m officially obsessed.
